Children learn best when in person, in community with teachers and friends! This undeniable fact has prompted extensive reimagining of the 2020-2021 school year – a year like no other – and we are thrilled to be providing in-person learning for all grades, TK – 8, in addition to our Virtual Academy.
Though health mandates required virtual instruction when the school year began, our waiver to allow in-person instruction for TK – grade 6 students allowed us to begin a staged opening by bringing back TK and kindergarten students on October 1. Soon after, county conditions moved to the red tier, enabling us to welcome all students, including grades 7 and 8, back to campus. On October 19, grades 1 – 5 returned to campus, with grades 6 – 8 joining on October 22. Today TK – 8 students attend school in-person M/T/Th/F; all students attend the Virtual Academy on Wednesday. In addition, the Virtual Academy is available on any school day for students who must remain home due to illness or exposure and for students whose families choose distance learning. Should partial or full closure of in-person instruction be necessary at any time, we will maintain the continuity of a robust and engaging education by pivoting to the Virtual Academy.
In these unprecedented times, our school community has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to work together to protect our students, staff, and their respective families. It is this dedication that has allowed NorthCreek Academy to open and stay open. Our updated COVID-19 Safety Plan (CSP) has been developed in accordance with the California Department of Public Health directive; the CSP replaces the NCA Reopening Plan submitted with our waiver. The CSP is comprised of several components including the COVID-19 School Guidance Checklist and related documentation and the COVID-19 Prevention Program.
Our staff is blessed to partner with our school families this year, and we affirm our continued commitment to maintain the strength of our program, the warmth of our community, and the essence and heart of a NorthCreek education.
